Spirit of the Entrepreneur Awards Honors United Transmission Exchange
Congratulations to United Transmission Exchange's CEO, Karen Mason, who was named the 2019 Inspirational Entrepreneur during the Spirit of the Entrepreneur Awards by Cal State San Bernardino’s Inland Empire Center for Entrepreneurship. This prestigious award recognizes entrepreneurial men and women who innovate, take risks, and build businesses that contribute significantly to our local economy.
In the competitive heavy-duty trucks and transmission arena, Karen Mason led her team at United Transmission Exchange, taking a struggling enterprise and turning things around, creating well-paying jobs in the Inland Empire and helping stabilize a low-wealth community. Today, the company employs nearly 30 skilled staff members and is the largest independent transmission remanufacturing facility in California.
Pacific Premier is proud to have played a role in their turnaround. In 2015, partnering with the Small Business Development Corporation, we assisted United Transmission Exchange in refinancing some high interest rate commercial real estate debt and provided a working capital line of credit for the company.
“The development corporation’s connections helped United Transmission Exchange to secure conventional financing that allowed the company to invest in the growth of its business and opened the door to a long-term and supportive relationship with Pacific Premier Bank,” Mason said. “It changed our business. Having the proper financing helped us turn our business around.”
Karen noted when receiving the award, “To be named an Inspirational Entrepreneur in the community gives us great pride. I share this award with my team at United Transmission Exchange and dedicate it to the memory of Tommy Mason.”Back to News & Media
